Dr. Maria Sagot, Associate Professor
Maria joined SUNY Oswego in 2014. She is Costa Rican, did her undergraduate at Universidad de Costa Rica, a PhD from Louisiana State University with Dr. Richard Stevens and a post-doc with Dr. Tigga Kingston at Texas Tech University.

Students
Alexandria Capria
Alex joined the lab in the Spring 2018. She worked on bat ecosystem services in apple orchards in the Oswego region. Alex graduated in the Fall 2019.
Tenaja Smith-Butler
Tenaja joined the lab in the Summer 2017. She travelled to Costa Rica to study energetics of vocal roles in the Spinx’s disc-winged bat. She worked on bat ecosystem services in apple orchards in the Oswego region.
Kervans Lerouge
Kervans joined the lab in the Fall 2017, as an honors student. He studied the effects of temperature and day-length on the foraging movements and home range of the Southern flying squirrel (Glaucomys volans).
Imran Razik
Imran joined the lab in 2015. He has participated in multiple research projects including behavioral responses to the presence of predators, and foraging ecology of the Southern flying squirrel. Imran travelled to Costa Rica to collaborate on a project understanding the importance of vocal roles in foraging efficiency. He also studied the effects of seasonality on the foraging patterns of the North American beaver (Castor canadensis) at Rice Creek Field Station, as part of is honors thesis. Currently, Imran is in Gerry Carter’s lab at Ohio State University.
Cayla Turner
Cayla joined the lab in the Summer 2017. She travelled to Costa Rica to study energetics of vocal roles in the Spinx’s disc-winged bat. She worked on the echolocation of Spinx’s disc-winged bats when foraging in groups vs solitary.
Anthony Macchiano
Anthony joined the lab in 2015. He collaborated studying individual behavioral responses to the presence of predators. Anthony studied the effects of adult sex ratio on same sex courtship behavior as part of his individual research. He graduated in the Spring 2017. Currently his is working with Dr. Fowler-Finn lab at Saint Louis University.
Miranda Nelson
Miranda joined the lab in 2015 as an honors student. For her thesis she studied the effects of seasonality on the foraging behavior of the Southern flying squirrel (Glaucomys volans) in the Northeastern United States. Miranda graduated in the Spring 2017.
Christian Kalinowski
Christian joined the lab in 2016. As part of his individual research project he studied the effects of seasonality on the body condition in Southern flying squirrels (Glaucomys volans). He graduated in the Summer 2016.
Heather Eldridge
Heather joined the lab in 2014 as an honors student. For her thesis she studied individual and species level behavioral responses to the presence of predators, comparing the white-footed mouse and the Northern short-tailed Shrew. She graduated in the Spring 2016.
Diana Sweatt
Diana joined the lab in 2014 to develop the “Field Guide to Mammals at Rice Creek Field Station” as part of her independent research project. She graduated im the Spring 2015.
